The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has suspended its indefinite nationwide strike action following an appeal by the government for a 14-day period to address the outstanding concerns of its members.
At a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, the Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo, announced that members are to resume work effective Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
“The National Executive Committee of the association has reviewed the 14-day request and decided to call off the nationwide strike action,” Mr. Bampoe Addo stated.
He explained that the suspension is intended to grant the government the requested window to finalise arrangements and respond to the association’s demands regarding salary structure and conditions of service.
Mr. Bampoe Addo urged all members to comply with the directive and return to their posts, assuring that the leadership would maintain close engagement with the government to ensure their concerns are adequately addressed.
“We believe the government will come out with a positive result within this period,” the Executive Secretary added.
The association had earlier declared the strike over unresolved issues pertaining to salary structures and conditions of service for its members. While the National Labour Commission had invited both parties for negotiations, those initial discussions failed to yield a resolution, with CLOGSAG initially insisting on continuing the industrial action.
With the suspension now in effect, operations across the civil and local government service are expected to return to normalcy. However, the association has indicated it would not hesitate to take further decisions should the need arise.
