Chief Justice pays a courtesy call on the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament

This morning, the corridors of Parliament bore a quiet sense of purpose as a courtesy visit unfolded. His Lordship, Chief Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, paid a respectful call on the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to share a compelling vision for the future of justice in our nation.

Speaker Bagbin in his welcome remarks indicated that his visit was historic and a call for collaboration between the two arms of Government in consolidating Ghana’s democracy.

In their discussion, the CJ outlined concrete paths to strengthen the system: expanding access to justice for all, introducing a shift system for court operations to reduce delays, and establishing specialized courts to tackle illegal mining and related infractions flagged by the Public Accounts Committee. He also highlighted reforms in legal education, emphasizing training that keeps pace with evolving needs and technologies.

Beyond policy, he called for practical support to turn these visions into reality: secure office accommodation for the judiciary, enhanced security for judicial personnel, and streamlined clearance to recruit additional staff and experts.

The exchange was marked by mutual respect and a shared commitment to service. As they parted, the message was clear: progress hinges on thoughtful dialogue, targeted reforms, and the courage to invest in institutions that safeguard justice for every citizen
