American rapper Cardi B has ignited a wave of reactions on social media after candidly explaining why she believes she is not suited to practice Islam, specifically citing the physical demands of fasting.
The Grammy-winning artist, born Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, admitted in a recent statement that her inability to go without food for extended periods would make it impossible for her to observe Islamic traditions, such as Ramadan.
“God knew why He didn’t make me a Muslim,” Cardi B stated. “He knew that I can’t be a Muslim. I don’t have the strength to be a Muslim.”
The rapper elaborated on her struggles with hunger, admitting that it significantly affects her mood and daily interactions. She noted that she becomes irritable and short-tempered after just a few hours without eating.
“If I wake up and I didn’t eat after three hours, I start to become angry,” she revealed. “I don’t even pay attention to my kids when I am hungry.”
Despite her personal admission, Cardi B took a moment to acknowledge and commend those who adhere to religious fasting, whether Muslim or otherwise. “People are making a lot of sacrifices to their God,” she said. “Other people are loyal to their creator.”
