Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the United Arab Emirates has reassured the Black Queens of full government protection as the team competes in the Pink Ladies Cup, urging players to remain calm and focused despite escalating tensions in the region.

Officials from the Ghanaian Embassy in the UAE visited the team’s camp on Monday in a morale-boosting engagement aimed at reinforcing confidence within the squad. The delegation included Consular Officer Percy Okudzeto, Consul and Head of Chancery Abdul-Jalil Sigli Yakubu Abdulai, and Head of Transport Anas Shaibu.

The visit comes amid heightened security concerns following recent military actions in the Middle East, including US and Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory missile launches on American bases in the region. While tournament activities continue as scheduled, diplomatic authorities have intensified engagement with Ghanaian nationals in the country.

Addressing the players, Consular Officer Percy Okudzeto emphasised the government’s commitment to the team’s welfare throughout their stay.

“We want the team to stay calm and focus on the competition. The government and the embassy are doing everything possible to ensure your safety and well-being,” Okudzeto said, according to a publication on the Ghana Football Association website.

Consul Abdul-Jalil Sigli Yakubu Abdulai reiterated the mission’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance during the tournament, establishing an open line of communication between the camp and the embassy.

The engagement provided officials with an opportunity to assess conditions at the team’s base, while players and technical staff shared their experiences and preparations ahead of upcoming fixtures.

Team leadership expressed appreciation for what they described as a timely and motivating visit, noting that the presence of diplomatic representatives had boosted morale and reinforced the sense of national backing at a crucial stage of the competition.

The embassy has indicated it will continue monitoring developments in the region and maintain contact with the team throughout their stay in the UAE.
