The Attorney-General has withdrawn all charges against Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo, the second and third accused persons in the ongoing extradition proceedings involving Frederick Kumi, also known as Emmanuel Kojo Baah or Abu Trica.
A notice of withdrawal from prosecution, dated January 14, 2026, and issued by the Office of the Attorney-General in Accra, said the decision was taken pursuant to Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).
The notice stated that Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo had been withdrawn from prosecution in respect of all charges brought against them in the case, which arises from extradition proceedings under the 1931 Extradition Treaty between the United Kingdom and the United States of America, as applied between Ghana and the United States.
The notice, signed by the Deputy Attorney-General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, was addressed to the Registrar of the Gbese District Court in the Greater Accra Region.
Frederick Kumi, the first accused in the matter, remains before the court in connection with the extradition proceedings.
Popularly known on social media as Abu Trica, Kumi is wanted by authorities in the United States for allegedly defrauding victims through false pretence and is known online for flaunting an extravagant lifestyle.
On January 13, the Gbese District Court fixed February 7, 2026, to rule on whether Kumi should be discharged from the extradition proceedings initiated at the request of the US government over alleged fraud-related offences.
He was arraigned under Ghana’s Extradition Act, 1960 (Act 22), to determine whether he should be surrendered to stand trial in the United States.
The ruling date followed the withdrawal of charges against Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo, who had initially been presented as accessories to Kumi in a charge sheet filed on December 12, 2025.
