A public spat has erupted between Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene and broadcaster Paul Adom-Otchere, following comments made by the media personality questioning the minister’s academic credentials.
The controversy began during a recent episode of Good Evening Ghana, where Adom-Otchere cast doubt on the nature of Mr. Amoakohene’s doctorate. “I know his doctorate is not in medicine. In tech, you can complete a four-year programme and be called a doctor, but it is not medicine,” the broadcaster stated.
In a sharp rebuttal, Mr. Amoakohene dismissed the comments and challenged Mr. Adom-Otchere to explain his own academic history, specifically alleging a dismissal from law school.
“When you got the chance, you chose to buy Christmas trees. I chose to be innovative, so if you want to defame me, at least do your due diligence,” the Minister retorted.
He further escalated the exchange by publicly contrasting their academic journeys. “Below is my academic background at 35 years. I dare the Christmas tree to share his academic background at 51 years and explain to us why he was sacked from law school,” he stated.
The clash comes amid the circulation of a viral video showing the Minister playfully gesturing toward a portrait of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Asokwa interchange, which had previously drawn public attention.
As of press time, Mr. Adom-Otchere has not yet responded to the Minister’s latest accusations regarding his law school history.
