NSA Director General calls for unity behind Black Stars after final squad announcement

Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars following the release of the national team’s final squad by head coach Otto Addo.
In a message shared after the announcement, Mr. Ampofo Ankrah urged football fans to put aside individual preferences and unite in support of the national team as it prepares for its upcoming international assignments.
“The final squad has now been released by the coach. Let’s unite and support the boys,” the NSA boss stated, emphasizing the need for national solidarity behind the team.
The appeal comes at a time when discussions surrounding player selections continue to dominate conversations among football supporters across the country. As has often been the case with Black Stars squad announcements, some fans have welcomed the coach’s choices while others have questioned the omission of certain players and the inclusion of others.
However, Mr. Ampofo Ankrah’s message seeks to shift attention away from controversy and towards collective support for the team. According to sports observers, maintaining a united front could play a crucial role in boosting the morale of the players as they seek to deliver positive results for Ghana.
The squad announced by Coach Otto Addo is expected to combine experienced campaigners with emerging talents, reflecting the technical team’s strategy of building a competitive side capable of challenging at the highest level. The selection reportedly includes several players who have been in impressive form for their clubs, as well as key figures who have been instrumental in Ghana’s recent performances.
The Black Stars remain one of Africa’s most celebrated football teams, having won the Africa Cup of Nations four times and represented the continent at multiple FIFA World Cup tournaments. Expectations among supporters remain high as the team continues its quest for success on both the continental and global stages.
Sports analysts have noted that while debates over squad selection are inevitable in football, the focus must ultimately be on creating an environment that enables the players and technical team to perform at their best.
Mr. Ampofo Ankrah’s intervention has therefore been interpreted as a call for national cohesion, reminding Ghanaians that the success of the Black Stars depends not only on the players and coaching staff but also on the unwavering support of millions of fans at home and abroad.
With preparations now underway, attention will turn to how the newly announced squad gels together in training and translates its potential into results on the pitch. For many supporters, the hope is that the team can reward the nation’s faith with strong performances and restore confidence in Ghanaian football.
As anticipation builds ahead of the Black Stars’ next fixtures, the NSA Director-General’s message is clear: the squad has been chosen, and the time has come for Ghanaians to stand firmly behind their national team.
