Takyi Stops Dowuona in Two Rounds, Issues Challenge to Commey

Samuel “Ring Warrior” Takyi extended his unbeaten record to 8-0 with a commanding second-round stoppage of Isaac “Zongo Fire” Dowuona on Monday night at the Idrowhyt Events Centre.

The bout, featured on the Cabic Promotions Big Fight Night card, ended abruptly when Dowuona, from Bronx Gym, declined to continue after two rounds. Despite an aggressive start in which he pressed forward relentlessly, Dowuona was unable to withstand Takyi’s precise jabs and hooks and did not answer the bell for the third round.

In the immediate aftermath, an elated Takyi, now in peak form, turned his attention to National Lightweight champion Joseph “Jaguar” Commey, issuing a direct challenge. “I am ready for Joseph Commey,” Takyi declared. “I thank everyone who has supported me on this journey.”

The 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist and 2023 African Games gold medalist has built an impressive résumé since turning professional. He has competed against opponents in South Africa and Nigeria and completed training stints in the United Kingdom.

Takyi currently trains at Wisdom Boxing Gym under renowned coach Dr. Ofori Asare.
With the emphatic victory, the “Ring Warrior” has positioned himself as a leading contender in the domestic lightweight division, setting the stage for a potential high-profile showdown with Commey.
