In a dramatic turn of events that has stunned the Ghanaian football fraternity, Accra Hearts of Oak have dissolved their entire technical team, effective immediately.
The decision brings an abrupt end to the tenure of head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and his assistants, just days after the conclusion of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season .
According to inside sources, Dramani had prepared to meet the club’s board to present and assess his end-of-season technical report. In a procedural move ahead of the Sala celebrations, the coach had temporarily released his backroom staff, with plans to reconvene them for a joint meeting with the board.
However, in an emergency meeting held today, the board delivered a shock verdict. Before Dramani could present his findings, he was informed that he and his entire staff had been relieved of their duties.
Dramani’s Composed Response
Witnesses describe Dramani’s demeanor as composed despite the unexpected nature of the dismissal. His response to the board was brief and pointed:
“Thank you for the opportunity to work with Hearts of Oak.”
Following the meeting, the former Black Stars assistant coach immediately contacted his staff to inform them they were no longer in charge.
The club later released an official statement confirming the split, citing a “comprehensive technical review.” The statement read: “The Board has decided to part ways with the Technical Team led by Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani,” adding that the team is currently on recess as they search for a new direction .
The Numbers Behind the Axe
While the club publicly thanks Dramani for his “professionalism” and “discipline,” the statistics suggest a deeper frustration. Under Dramani’s guidance, Hearts of Oak finished 3rd with 54 points .
However, the style of play proved to be a double-edged sword. The Phobias boasted the best defensive record in the league, conceding only 15 goals. Yet, they scored just 25 goals—averaging 0.73 per match—resulting in 15 draws . A shocking FA Cup exit to lower-tier side True Life Academy in the round of 32 also left the board dissatisfied, as the season ended without silverware .
The “Real Issue” the Board Won’t Discuss
While the club cites a “technical review” for the parting of ways, my checks from the board’s side suggest there is far more behind the statement that cannot be made public at this time.
The lingering question is: What is the real issue?
Given the timing—an emergency meeting before Dramani could even present his report—speculation is rife. A major factor looming over the club is the ongoing FIFA transfer ban. The club is currently prohibited from registering players for three windows due to the unpaid $150,000 debt owed to former technical director Rene Hiddink .
It is unclear if the board held Dramani accountable for the team’s performance under the constraints of the ban, or if a disagreement over recruitment strategy and the technical direction for next season triggered the immediate dismissal. Neither the club nor Coach Dramani has elaborated on the backstory behind the sudden “emergency” nature of the meeting.
For now, the Phobians are without a head coach, and the dramatic circumstances surrounding the dissolution of the technical team remain a closely guarded secret behind closed doors in Accra.
