Asamoah Gyan appointed ambassador for Ghana’s national teams and colts football

The Football Association has officially unveiled legendary striker Asamoah Gyan as Ambassador for Ghana’s National Teams and Colts Football. The announcement was made during a well-attended ceremony at the Pelican Hotel in Accra.

The event celebrated not only Gyan’s illustrious playing career but also his enduring influence on Ghanaian football, which organizers say transcends goals, generations, and moments on the pitch.

In his new role, “Baby Jet” will spearhead promotional campaigns, fan engagement initiatives, and strategic corporate partnerships. His mandate includes rallying support for the Black Stars while championing Colts football, which serves as the foundation for the nation’s player development pathway. Gyan will also represent the Football Association at key engagements, working to strengthen the connection between the national teams and their millions of supporters across the country.

With 51 goals, Gyan remains Ghana’s all-time leading scorer and one of the most prolific marksmen in the history of African football. Officials described him as one of the greatest ambassadors the country’s football has ever produced, citing his invaluable and unforgettable contributions to the Black Stars and Ghana’s global football identity.

“The jersey may no longer be worn on the pitch, but his service to the nation continues in an even greater capacity,” a representative of the Football Association said. “We thank Baby Jet for his enviable contribution, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to Ghana football over the years.”

The Association expressed confidence that Gyan’s experience, influence, and deep passion will continue to inspire the next generation and positively impact the growth of the game.

“We look forward with excitement and optimism to this new journey together as we continue working collectively to build a stronger future for Ghana football,” the statement added.
