Effective May 8, 2026, Ing. Frank Asirifi Otchere has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).
The appointment was confirmed in a circular signed by Board Chairlady Kuukua Maurice Ankrah. The board also approved Ing. Samuel Nkansah as Deputy Chief Executive for Finance and Resources.
Ing. Samed Abdul Ibrahim, currently Director of the Project Implementation Unit, has been appointed Acting Deputy Chief Executive for Engineering and Operations.
Leadership Transition Amid Sector Challenges
Ing. Otchere takes the helm of the state-owned power transmission company, which is responsible for electricity transmission across Ghana and within the West African Power Pool.
The leadership change comes as GRIDCo intensifies efforts to improve operational efficiency and stabilise the national grid following recent power sector challenges.
The company recently experienced a major setback when a fire broke out at the Akosombo switchyard control room, disrupting electricity transmission and generation operations nationwide.
Board Calls for Support
GRIDCo has urged staff to extend the “necessary cooperation and support” to the newly appointed executives as they discharge their duties.
The appointments take effect immediately, with the new leadership expected to steer the company toward improved reliability in power transmission.
