The CEO of MobileMoney Fintech Limited, Shaibu Haruna, has renewed calls for public cooperation in tackling unauthorised practices among mobile money agents, specifically the illegal imposition of charges on cash deposits into customer wallets.
According to Mr. Haruna, depositing funds into a mobile money wallet is designed to be a no-cost service for customers. However, persistent reports indicate that some agents are disregarding this directive, prompting the company to intensify monitoring and compliance efforts.
While internal surveillance mechanisms have been strengthened, the CEO emphasised that customer feedback remains a critical tool for identifying and addressing such misconduct. Users who encounter these irregular charges are encouraged to formally lodge complaints through available channels to enable prompt action.
Mr. Haruna assured that all reports received undergo detailed review processes, with field teams assigned to investigate and verify claims on the ground. Agents found to have breached operational guidelines are dealt with according to established disciplinary procedures.
The move forms part of broader efforts by MobileMoney Fintech Limited to safeguard service integrity and maintain public confidence in Ghana’s rapidly expanding digital financial ecosystem. The company believes sustained collaboration between customers and service providers will promote transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery across the sector.
