Police arrest Nigerian Woman,28, in Mando Watreso brothel raid; suspected operator flee

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old Nigerian woman, Esther Egbuhama, following a targeted raid on a suspected brothel at Manso Watreso in the Amansie West District.

The operation, conducted by the Manso Nkwanta Police on Sunday, April 19, 2026, is part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal activities, particularly the operation of brothels and related criminal enterprises in the area.

Operation Details

According to an official statement from the Command, police acted on credible intelligence that a facility known as Mama Nice Lodge was being used as a brothel. Officers mounted a swift operation to disrupt the activities and apprehend those involved.

During the raid, Egbuhama was arrested. She is believed to be the owner and person in charge of operations at the establishment.

However, other individuals suspected to be involved in the illicit activities managed to flee before officers could apprehend them. Police say efforts are underway to identify and arrest the escaped suspects.

Legal Action

The arrested suspect has been taken to the Manso Nkwanta Police Station, where she is assisting with investigations and will be processed for legal action.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command reiterated that operating a brothel is a criminal offence under Section 277 of the Criminal Code (as amended by N.L.C.D. 398, paragraph 16). The Command stressed that such activities will not be tolerated within its area of responsibility.

Police Advisory

The Command assured the public of continued and intensified police operations aimed at flushing out individuals and groups engaged in unlawful activities, particularly those undermining public morals and security.

Residents are urged to support security agencies with timely and credible information to help sustain peace and order in the region.
