A grand executive dinner ball, dubbed “World Meets in Ghana,” is set to celebrate the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as a Pillar of Peace in recognition of his distinguished legacy in peacebuilding, diplomacy, and economic development.
The event, scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, coincides with the monarch’s 27th coronation anniversary.
Organised by E ON 3 Group in collaboration with the Manhyia Palace, KGL Group, and the Diaspora Affairs Office of the Presidency, the event is themed: “Advancing Peace and Sustainable Economic Development Through Royal Vision.”
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, will be the Special Guest of Honour. Other distinguished guests include the Olu of Warri Kingdom of Nigeria, Ogiame-Atuwatse III, and the Queen Consort, Olori Atuwatse III.
The dinner ball will convene global leaders, diplomats, government officials, business executives, traditional authorities, and members of the African diaspora.
A key highlight of the celebration will be the public unveiling of the Otumfuo Commemorative Gold Coin and Gold Medal. Minted from 24-karat gold with approval from the Bank of Ghana, these items are intended to honour the Asantehene’s contributions to national peace and stability, offering world leaders, Ghanaians, and the global community an opportunity to own a piece of the commemorative collection.
Since ascending the Golden Stool in 1999, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has been widely acclaimed for mediating numerous protracted chieftaincy and land disputes, including the 23-year Effiduase stool dispute and the 13-year Tepa stool dispute. His interventions have earned him the title “King Solomon” and significantly reduced the burden on the courts, according to former Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah.
On the political front, the Asantehene convened presidential candidates in 2012 to sign the Kumasi Declaration, a peace pact for peaceful elections, and facilitated quiet diplomacy to ease tensions during the 2016 general election. In 2019, he addressed the United Nations High-Level Forum on the Culture of Peace and received the “Pillar of Peace” award for his role in restoring peace in Dagbon.
Most recently, Otumfuo served as the Sole Mediator in the protracted Bawku chieftaincy conflict, submitting a report to President John Dramani Mahama in December 2025.
Organisers say the “World Meets in Ghana” dinner ball will serve as a fitting platform for Ghana and the international community to celebrate a monarch whose visionary leadership continues to strengthen peace, stability, and development.
