The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance exercises across the Ashanti and Central Regions on Thursday, April 9, 2026, which will temporarily disrupt power supply to scores of communities.
Engineers will carry out critical infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid, according to advisories issued by the power distributor.
The outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with most beginning at 9:00 am. However, the duration of interruptions will differ depending on the scope of work at each location.
Ashanti Region
Three separate maintenance operations have been scheduled in the Ashanti Region.
First operation (9:00 am – 3:00 pm): Affected communities include Hilltop, Traboum, Ofoase, Boko, Yabi, Hwedie, Korang, Nweneso, Sefwi, Korkoh, Hiakose, Moseaso, Akokroso, Adukurama, Atwere, Asamang, Brofoyedu, Manso Nkwanta, Kwahu, Bebuabou, Asuminya, Suntreso, Ajajukrom, Abore, Krofrom, Nkaasu, Kyenkyenase, Akuntam, Yawkrom, Agroyesum, Kobeng, Kobeng Nkonteng, Amanchia, Ahwerewa, Esaase, Bontefufuo, Aboabo Tetekaso, Tetrem, Mpataum, Bonteso, Akataniaase, and surrounding areas.
Second operation (9:00 am – 6:00 pm): Affected areas include Akrowa, Kodie, Apagya, Akrofrom, Patasi, Aduman, Aduamoah, Denase, Akom, Nkwantakese, Pampatia, Boamang, Amoako, Tetrem, Dwamena Akenten Senior High School, Offinso, Namong, Kokote, Kayera, parts of Barekese, Abira, and surrounding areas.
Third operation (8:00 am – 4:00 pm): Affected communities include Mamponteng, Aboaso, Ntonsso, Dumanafo, Ankaase, Asonomaso Nkwanta, Safo, Kona, and surrounding areas.
Central Region
A single planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Ekumfi Abor, Ekumfi Ajumako, and surrounding areas.
ECG apologised to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience these technical interventions may cause to domestic and commercial activities. The company reassured the public that the exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
