The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has thrown his weight behind the Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) as it prepares to host the 2026 IFBB West Africa Championship.
The assurance came when the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the championship, led by GBFA President Abdul Haye Yartey, paid a courtesy call on the NSA chief to officially inform and invite him to this year’s event.
During the brief meeting, Mr. Ankrah commended the federation for its remarkable efforts and pledged his full support, confirming that he would personally grace the championship.
He further challenged the GBFA leadership to dig deep into their expertise and experience to deliver a sterling championship that would underline an enduring legacy for their tenure.
In response, Mr. Yartey promised to stage an impressive show and called on the general public to patronise the event.
The 2026 IFBB West Africa Championship is scheduled to take place at the National Theatre in Accra on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
