Interior Ministry warns public over recruitment scam ahead of medical screening

The Ministry of the Interior has issued a strong warning to job seekers regarding a fraudulent scheme targeting applicants of the recent recruitment exercise.

In a statement released on Monday, March 23, 2026, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Recruiting Agencies, cautioned the public to ignore any text messages related to the upcoming medical screening phase unless they originate from the official sender ID “CSERP.”

According to the Ministry, no SMS notifications concerning the medical screening have been dispatched to applicants at this time. Authorities have scheduled the official SMS rollout to take place between March 29 and March 31, 2026. The medical screening exercise itself is set to commence on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at designated centres across all regions.

The clarification follows growing concerns over the activities of fraudsters seeking to exploit unsuspecting job seekers. The Ministry has specifically alerted the public to be wary of messages from dubious sources, particularly those demanding mobile money payments.

Officials emphasized that no applicant will be required to send money directly to any mobile money number. All legitimate payments, where applicable, must be processed through the secure web checkout system available on the official applicant portal.

In addition to verifying the sender ID, applicants have been advised to monitor their portal dashboards for a critical status change. Once the official SMS messages are sent, qualified applicants will see their status shift from “Qualified” to “MEDICAL SCREENING.”

The Ministry urged individuals to double-check any correspondence by ensuring this status update is reflected on the portal before proceeding with any financial transaction.

“Stay vigilant,” the statement urged, encouraging the public to report any suspected cases of fraud to the dedicated email address, recruitment@mint.gov.gh.
