Signage works complete at Accra International Airport

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced the completion of signage maintenance at the Accra International Airport (formerly Kotoka International Airport).

The project, which involved repainting and installation, was finalized in the early hours of Saturday, March 21, 2026, following minor delays the previous day. According to airport authorities, the work was conducted at night after the last flight to minimize disruption to passengers and the public, a necessity due to the height of the structures and the impact on the car park area.

The upgraded signage is expected to significantly enhance navigation within Terminal 3, supporting Ghana’s ongoing efforts to solidify its status as a preferred aviation hub in the West African sub-region.

The GACL also acknowledged public feedback, noting that constructive input from passengers and stakeholders continues to play a critical role in guiding ongoing airport upgrades.

Background on Name Change
This development follows the government’s February 23 decision to officially revert the facility’s name from Kotoka International Airport to its original designation, Accra International Airport. The Ministry of Transport stated at the time that the change reflects the airport’s broader international recognition and assured that it would not impact operations or travel arrangements, as the airport’s ICAO code remains “ACC.”
