In a significant breakthrough, the Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Nana Serwaa Asaamaa Kuma Gyan, the revered Queenmother of Abamba near Amantin in the Atebubu-Amantin District.
The suspects, identified as Rafiu Haruna, Muftawu Adamu, and Michael Owusu Spermi, were taken into custody following an intelligence-led operation by the Bono East Regional Police Command.
The tragic incident occurred on February 25, 2026, when the Queenmother was shot at her residence near the Methodist Church area in Atebubu. The killing sent shockwaves through the close-knit community and dealt a heavy blow to the traditional leadership structure of the area.
In a press release, the police confirmed that the three suspects are currently in custody and are assisting investigators as they work to unravel the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we are intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend any other individuals who may have been involved in this heinous crime,” stated the release, which was signed by the Bono East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Appiah Danquah.
The police have assured the public of their unwavering commitment to ensuring justice for the late Queenmother. Authorities emphasized that once the investigations are concluded, the suspects will face the full rigors of the law.
The murder has generated widespread concern among residents and traditional authorities in the Atebubu-Amantin area, with many calling for swift justice to maintain peace and security in the community.
