The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has officially reopened investigations into four high-profile unresolved murder and disappearance cases, vowing to pursue justice for the victims and their families.
The Director General of the CID, Commissioner of Police (COP) Lydia Yaako Donkor, announced the development during a press briefing in Accra on Monday, March 9, 2026. She confirmed that the police’s specialized Cold Case Unit has taken over the files to apply fresh investigative techniques and review all existing evidence.
“These cases have remained open, and no one has been brought before the courts in connection with them,” COP Donkor stated. “The Cold Case Unit is now stepping in to ensure that every lead is thoroughly explored.”
The four cases now under active review by the unit are:
- The Disappearance of Paulina Lamisi: The Tema West Constituency Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was reported missing on June 12, 2024. Her whereabouts remain unknown. Police are appealing to the public for any information that might lead to her location.
- The Murder of Stella Adjoa Potakedonko: Ms. Potakedonko was discovered deceased in her room at Tema Golf City on February 11, 2024. Investigators have yet to identify the perpetrators.
- The Killing of Anthony Kudjo Tettey Ehiamah: An employee of Dizengoff Ghana, Mr. Ehiamah was killed at Oyarifa on September 18, 2024. The CID confirmed that previous investigations into his death had stalled.
- The Fatal Stabbing of Francis Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley): A staunch supporter of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, Nana Pooley was fatally stabbed during a heated altercation at a Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC. While the Sunyani CID is actively pursuing leads, the Cold Case Unit will conduct a parallel review to ensure all avenues are explored.
COP Donkor emphasized the unit’s commitment to a fresh start on these stalled investigations. “The Cold Case Unit is currently reviewing evidence, re-interviewing witnesses, and exploring new angles that may not have been available or apparent during the initial inquiries,” she said.
She further assured the public that this initiative is part of a broader effort, with the unit also reviewing other violent crime cases not mentioned at the briefing. “No case of murder, disappearance or violent crime will be abandoned,” COP Donkor asserted. “Every victim and every family deserves justice, and the Ghana Police Service will continue to pursue all available leads with diligence and thoroughness.”
