The head pastor of a Cape Coast-based church has been arrested and remanded into prison custody following the discovery of alleged videos of naked children on his mobile phone, in a case that has sent shockwaves through the community.
Reverend Dr. Ebenezer Conduah, leader of Mahanaim Christian Centre at Ankaful, appeared before the Adenta Circuit Court in Accra on Sunday. He faces two provisional counts of possessing an indecent image of a child and dealing with a child for sexual abuse, offences contrary to the Cybersecurity Act, 2020.
The court did not take his plea, as the matter is slated to be transferred to the High Court, which has the appropriate jurisdiction.
According to court documents, the case took a disturbing turn during a forensic analysis of the pastor’s electronic devices. Investigators allegedly discovered a video depicting a naked child holding a white card displaying the web address of a well-known pornographic website. A male voice, which the prosecution alleges belongs to Conduah, can be heard in the background instructing the child to announce they were on the platform.
The arrest on March 6, 2026, at his Woraba residence in Eguase, Cape Coast, followed an initial investigation by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA). The CSA had been assisting the Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Cape Coast with eight pending defilement cases against the pastor.
A subsequent search of his apartment led to the seizure of a trove of exhibits, including five mobile phones, two hard drives, two memory cards, a computer system unit, as well as sex toys and female underwear, all of which have been retained for evidence.
Presenting the facts in court, prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fuseini Yakubi stated that during interrogation, the pastor confirmed he was the one who recorded the video and that the voice in the background was his. He declined to comment further, stating he wished to consult his lawyers.
DSP Yakubi added that the forensic examination of the newly retrieved devices is ongoing and will be submitted to the CSA’s Digital Forensic Lab for further analysis. The victim in the newly discovered video is reportedly the same child involved in one of the defilement cases currently before the Cape Coast Circuit Court.
The accused has been remanded into prison custody and is expected to be re-arraigned before the High Court in Accra later this week.
