Eleven people, including nine men and two women, have sustained injuries in a head-on collision at Eduagyei along the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway.
The accident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, involved an Opel Astra and a Nissan minibus travelling in opposite directions. No fatalities were recorded.
According to the Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), ADOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the incident happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. on March 3, 2026.
Personnel from the Komenda Fire Station responded swiftly to a distress call and arrived at the scene by 7:30 p.m.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Opel Astra, with registration number WR 4860-13, was travelling from Cape Coast towards Komenda when it collided head-on with a Nissan minibus (registration number CR 1414-23) heading in the opposite direction from Takoradi to Cape Coast.
By the time fire service personnel arrived, community members had already rescued ten passengers from the Nissan minibus and transported them to the Elmina Polyclinic for medical attention.
Fire officers subsequently worked to extricate the driver of the Opel Astra, who had become trapped in the wreckage. The victim was handed over to the National Ambulance Service and transported to the same facility for treatment.
The rescue team later cleared debris from the highway to restore smooth traffic flow and secured the accident scene.
ADOII Hudu confirmed that investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the collision.
