Techiman North MP commissions modern JHS Block for Jebiri D/A School

In a significant boost to educational infrastructure in the Bono East Region, the Member of Parliament for Techiman North and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has commissioned a newly constructed Junior High School block for the Jebiri D/A School.

The ceremony, held on Monday, brought together jubilant community members, officials from the Ghana Education Service, and representatives from the Techiman North District Assembly to officially hand over the fully furnished facility.

In her address, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare underscored her dedication to enhancing educational outcomes within the constituency. She emphasized that the provision of quality learning environments is crucial for both effective teaching and improved student performance.

The new infrastructure has been met with profound gratitude from the local community. Nana Ameyaw Kesebeng II, the Chief of Jebiri, lauded the project as a transformative intervention for his people.

โ€œOn behalf of the people of Jebiri, I want to express our profound gratitude to the NDC government, our Member of Parliament, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, our District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, and the entire Techiman North District Assembly,โ€ Nana Ameyaw Kesebeng II stated.

He further highlighted the governmentโ€™s commitment to educational development, noting that the project was completed well ahead of its projected timeline. โ€œDuring the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare promised to complete the school block within six months. Today, in just four months, we are commissioning a fully furnished building,โ€ he revealed.

The new facility marks the end of an eight-year struggle for the schoolโ€™s students and staff. Head teacher Mr. Ponada Donkor George Evans explained that the previous inadequate structure had severely hampered academic work and discouraged regular attendance.

โ€œFor the past eight years, our learners were studying under a very poor structure, which naturally discouraged attendance. Some parents had even withdrawn their wards, and many students were forced to trek long distances to other communities just to learn,โ€ Mr. Ponada Donkor recounted.

With the commissioning of the new four-unit classroom block, the head teacher anticipates a significant turnaround. He expects attendance to improve dramatically and enrollment numbers to rise as parents regain confidence in the local school.

โ€œWe believe this beautiful edifice will bring our students back and enhance the quality of teaching and learning,โ€ he added. Mr. Ponada Donkor George Evans assured the MP and the Techiman North Education Directorate that the school community would serve as diligent caretakers, ensuring the facility is properly maintained for years to come.

The project is one of several recent educational interventions by the MP in the district, following the commissioning of a 12-unit classroom block for Bouyem St. Francis SHS just a day prior.
