MTN Foundation to hand over ultra-modern emergency centre to Ho Teaching Hospital

In a major boost to emergency healthcare delivery in the Volta Region, the MTN Ghana Foundation is set to officially commission a newly constructed and expanded Accident and Emergency (A&E) Centre at the Ho Teaching Hospital. The handover ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2026.

The state-of-the-art facility marks the culmination of a project initiated in June 2024, aimed at drastically improving the hospital’s capacity to handle critical emergency cases. The expanded centre is equipped with modern medical technology, featuring improved patient wards, dedicated treatment areas, and enhanced accessibility systems designed to facilitate seamless movement for patients, medical staff, and visitors.

Hospital authorities anticipate that the upgraded infrastructure will significantly enhance triage processes, reduce patient waiting times, and lead to better clinical outcomes for emergency cases not only from the Volta Region but also from surrounding areas.

The ceremony is expected to draw a wide cross-section of stakeholders, including representatives from the MTN Ghana Foundation, government officials, traditional leaders, health professionals, and community members, all gathered to celebrate the completion of this landmark health project.

Officials from the MTN Ghana Foundation have reiterated their commitment to impactful, sustainable initiatives that address pressing community needs. They emphasized that quality healthcare is a cornerstone of national development and that strategic partnerships between the private sector and public institutions are vital for achieving lasting progress.

Since its establishment in November 2007 as the corporate social investment arm of MTN Ghana, the Foundation has focused its efforts on three core areas: Health, Education, and Economic Empowerment. With this most recent project, the Foundation has now completed 178 major interventions across the country, positively impacting countless lives and communities.

The commissioning of the new Accident and Emergency Centre at the Ho Teaching Hospital stands as the latest testament to the Foundation’s unwavering dedication to advancing healthcare delivery and promoting equitable access to quality medical services throughout Ghana.
