Black Stars technical team to work without monthly salaries- Minister confirms

Newly appointed members of the Black Stars technical team will not receive monthly salaries but will instead be compensated through match-related allowances and bonuses, Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has confirmed.

Addressing the media, Adams outlined the unique remuneration structure put in place for the coaching staff, emphasizing that the arrangement is strictly tied to the team’s World Cup campaign.

“None of them will be on any salary. None of them is on a salary,” Adams stated clearly. “However, they will benefit from some of the allowances that are paid to the team, and these additions are just for the World Cup.”

According to the Minister, the contractual agreement with the technical team is limited to the duration of the World Cup assignment. Upon the conclusion of the tournament, the current contract arrangement will come to an end.

Adams elaborated on the specific benefits the technical team members will receive. They will be entitled to a portion of the appearance fees paid to the team, though he noted they will not receive the full amount. Additionally, the coaches will share in the winning bonuses awarded to any team member following a victory and will receive the standard per diems paid to all traveling team officials.

“We want to be transparent about the structure. After the World Cup, the contract arrangement ends, so they will benefit from some money, including maybe the appearance fees that are paid, but they will not get 100% of their appearance fees. Of course, they will also benefit from the winning bonuses that are entitled to any member of the team when they win, and then, of course, the per diems that are paid to team members, they will be entitled to,” he added.

The announcement clarifies the financial terms under which the new technical handlers will operate as they prepare the team for the upcoming international assignments.
