On a typical Sunday evening, the venue at GH Media in Achimota would be quiet. But on February 22, 2026, it pulsed with the vibrant energy of bass-heavy gospel Amapiano, disco lights, and a crowd of young worshippers dancing with abandon. This was the latest edition of “The Gathering,” Ghana’s first Christian nightclub, an initiative redefining what it means to have a fun night out while keeping the faith.
Launched on November 30, 2025, The Gathering has positioned itself as a wholesome alternative to the conventional, and often secular, nightlife scene. Held monthly, the event offers a space where the aesthetics of a club—a DJ booth, a dance floor, and a bar—are repurposed for a night of gospel music, fellowship, and praise.
Last Sunday’s event, themed “The Gathering – Lover’s Gather Edition,” drew a modest but enthusiastic crowd. By 5 p.m., patrons began streaming in, and by 5:30 p.m., the man behind the vision, DJ Kwame Delin Agyeman, known professionally as DJ Delin, took the helm. As chants of “The Gathering!” were met with the crowd’s unified response, “It’s just God and good vibes,” the evening was officially underway.
The dance floor quickly became a space of uninhibited celebration as DJ Delin spun a mix of gospel-infused Afrobeats and Amapiano tracks, including popular hits like Opomulero, Stomp, and Jerusalema. Choreographed group dances and an impromptu dance-off amplified the sense of community and joy, creating an atmosphere patrons described as a “holy jam.”
A Vision Born from a Pastoral Conversation
For DJ Delin, the concept is the result of years of reflection and prayer. He revealed to Graphic Showbiz that the idea was sparked three years ago during a conversation with his pastor, Rev. Selina Klu Albini of ICGC Christ Temple.
“It came from a discussion among some ladies who felt gospel DJs needed more platforms to perform at concerts,” DJ Delin explained. “I realized that many young Christians want to go out and have fun, but they often find the typical nightclub environment spiritually unsafe or ungodly. After seeing the joy a gospel set could bring, I prayed on it for years before receiving the confirmation to move forward.”
Navigating Criticism with Conviction
While the concept has been embraced by its growing following, it has not been without its detractors. Some members of the Christian community have voiced criticism, questioning the fusion of club culture with faith. However, DJ Delin remains steadfast in his mission.
“There has been backlash, mostly from people who don’t fully grasp the vision,” he said. “But I stay focused on what I believe God has called me to do. I trust that as time goes on, more people will understand the intention behind it.” He noted that he has largely self-financed the project, driven by faith and persistence.
More Than a Night Out
Beyond providing a safe social outlet, DJ Delin hopes The Gathering will open professional doors for other gospel DJs who often lack the performance platforms available to their secular counterparts.
For attendees, the event is a resounding success. Patron Nana Asieduwaa described the atmosphere as spiritually charged, stating, “You can truly feel God’s presence here.” Another attendee, Jason Armah, who came with his girlfriend, praised the initiative, saying, “It’s even better than a regular nightclub; there’s no chaos, just positive energy.”
Despite a slight dip in attendance for the third edition, the founder remains optimistic. “It’s a gradual process. Some will come, others won’t. But the understanding will grow, and so will the support,” he affirmed.
With patrons already looking forward to the next edition scheduled for March 28, 2026, The Gathering is steadily cementing its place as a unique and timely addition to Accra’s social landscape, proving that faith and fun can, in fact, share a dance floor.
