Trump announces continued military strikes on Iran, following death of Khamenei

President Donald Trump has announced that ongoing U.S. military strikes against targets in Iran will continue throughout the week, following the death of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In a statement released late [Day of week], President Trump confirmed that the bombing campaign would proceed “uninterrupted throughout the week or as long as necessary.” He characterized the operation’s objective as achieving “peace throughout the Middle East and, indeed, the world.”

The President also addressed the death of Ayatollah Khamenei directly, referring to the late Iranian leader as “one of the most evil people in history.” Mr. Trump described his death as “justice” for American citizens and others around the world whom he accused Iran of killing over the past decades.

In a significant shift in rhetoric, President Trump claimed that elements of Iran’s security apparatus, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), are already seeking immunity from the United States. He called on these forces to “peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots” and assist in the country’s reconstruction.

The President’s statement concluded with a direct appeal to the Iranian populace. He urged them to “take over your government” once the current round of strikes is complete, framing the moment as the “single greatest chance” for Iranians to reclaim their country.

The White House has not yet provided specific details on the targets or the scope of the military operations. The situation continues to develop rapidly, with international reactions expected in the coming hours.
