The Ghanaian film industry, locally known as Kumawood, has been rocked by scandal following the arrest of popular actress and entrepreneur Patricia Osei Boateng. Law enforcement officials have taken the star into custody on serious allegations that she acted as an intelligence gatherer for an armed robbery syndicate led by her late husband.
According to investigative sources confirmed by the Crime Check Foundation on February 27, 2026, Boateng is currently in detention at the CID Headquarters in Accra. She is accused of orchestrating a sophisticated “honey trap” operation, using her celebrity status to cultivate relationships with high-profile men—referred to colloquially as ‘big men’—to extract sensitive information for the gang.
The Alleged ‘Honey Trap’ Operation
Investigators allege that Boateng’s role was to be the “eye” of the operation. She reportedly targeted wealthy individuals, gaining their trust and intimate access to their personal lives, schedules, and properties. This intelligence was then allegedly passed to her husband, identified as the leader of the robbery gang, Eric Duku.
The information gathered would then be used to orchestrate violent, targeted attacks on the unsuspecting victims.
A Web of Deceit Unravels
The details of the alleged scheme have deepened following the recent death of Duku, who was killed in a police shootout during a failed robbery attempt. It is believed that Boateng’s alleged involvement went beyond information gathering.
Police sources claim she actively assisted her husband in evading law enforcement, including a daring instance where she allegedly helped Duku disguise himself as a nurse to slip through police checkpoints undetected.
Connection to a High-Profile Murder
The investigation into Boateng gained critical momentum following a brutal robbery and murder in Kumasi. Andrews Amankwa was fatally shot at the Ohwim Tigo Junction. Amankwa was the father-in-law of Sammy Gyamfi, the CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD). The subsequent arrest of four suspects in that murder case led authorities directly to the actress, linking her to the deadly network.
Industry and Public in Shock
As news of her detention spreads, it has sent shockwaves through the tight-knit Kumawood community. While Boateng is reported to be cooperating with investigators, the public reaction has been a potent mix of disbelief and outrage. Many are struggling to reconcile her on-screen persona with the chilling accusations of her involvement in violent crime.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that the investigation is far from over, stating they are “digging deeper” to uncover the full extent of the criminal enterprise and to identify other potential high-ranking victims or accomplices who may still be in the dark.
