Judicial Service blocks Okuapehene from attending court commissioning ceremony

The Judicial Service has reportedly prevented the Okuapehene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, from participating in a court commissioning ceremony scheduled for today, sources close to the traditional authority have disclosed.

According to information gathered by GhanaWeb, the traditional leader was due to grace the official opening of a new district court facility but was stopped from attending what would have been a significant ceremony uniting the judiciary with traditional governance structures.

Details surrounding the Judicial Service’s intervention remain sketchy, although checks by this portal suggest the decision may be linked to the ongoing strained relations between the traditional council and the Judicial Service.

This development comes amid heightened tensions involving the Okuapehene and businessman Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, who have been at the centre of recent controversies regarding judicial matters in the Akuapem traditional area.

Neither the Judicial Service nor the Okuapehene’s office has issued an official statement regarding the incident at the time of filing this report.

Attempts to reach officials of the Judicial Service for comment proved unsuccessful.
