Construction is progressing steadily on 20 two-bedroom housing units under the Greenville District Housing Programme in the South Dayi District, bringing relief to residents eager for affordable accommodation.
The project, a pilot phase aimed at providing affordable housing for low- and middle-income households, has commenced at Kpeve, the administrative capital of the district in Ghana’s Volta Region. It forms part of a broader government initiative to increase access to affordable housing across the country, with similar pilot projects at various stages of completion nationwide.
MP and DCE Inspect Progress
On Sunday, February 22, 2026, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi Constituency, Honourable Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, and District Chief Executive Mr. Courage Kwame Kokroko toured the construction site to assess progress.
The MP was accompanied by a delegation of constituency executives, assembly members, and government appointees, including Mr. John Abotsi, Alhaji Suley Shaibu, Mr. Bright Mensah, Mr. Fidelis Kuuvem, and Hon. Godwin Mantey Etornam, among others.
Both officials expressed strong satisfaction with the pace of work and shared their excitement with the media, urging the contractor to maintain momentum to bring much-needed relief to residents.
Road Infrastructure Development
The tour also included an inspection of the 24-kilometer road construction site in the area, where the MP and DCE held site meetings with engineers and contractors to ensure strict adherence to specifications and timelines. Underperforming contractors were cautioned to expedite work.
Construction is advancing steadily on the TodomeโKpalime to TongorโDzemeni road, covering approximately 17.7 kilometres, with an additional 6.37 kilometres of roads within the TongorโDzemeni township being upgraded to enhance socio-economic activities.
Mr. Courage Kwame Kokroko anticipates that the road network will be completed by June 2026.
“You know our road network has been terrible; Todome to Dzemeni has been a major problem for residents of South Dayi. I believe, when you were coming, you saw the improvements on the road,” he said. “Our prayer is that by the end of June or July, the contractor will be able to complete the work so that we can commute between Todome and Dzemeni with ease.”
Hon. Dafeamekpor noted that an improved road network would accelerate socio-economic development in the area, as requested by constituents.
Contractor Commits to Timely Completion
In an interview with journalists, the contractor, Ing. Gabriel Boateng of SANAM GHANA LIMITED, assured that the affordable housing project in Kpeve would be completed within the contract period. He was joined by Ing. Dennis Awukutse and Christian of the same firm.
Development Agenda Across Sectors
The development underscores the impact of community-driven initiatives championed by Honourable Dafeamekpor, complementing his vision of improving socio-economic conditions through decentralized governance.
A recent tour by a journalist highlighted the synergy between large-scale infrastructure projectsโincluding roads, schools, water and sanitation (WASH), and health facilitiesโand the MP’s vision to foster local economic development. Projects inspected included CHPS compounds, GETFund projects, and a two-storey, 10-unit classroom block at Kpeve Model School.
Health and Education Investments
The MP’s office organized a health screening exercise for constituents on Saturday, January 3, 2026, focusing on the aged in TongorโAhor and KairaโKpalime to improve healthcare access and promote healthy lifestyles.
In education, Hon. Dafeamekpor has donated over 10,000 exercise books, 2,000 bags of cement for school infrastructure, and provided support to BECE candidates. He has also offered financial assistance to more than 60 brilliant but needy students.
On February 22, 2026, Peki Senior High School (PESCO) received 500 tables and chairs to address furniture shortages. The school is also benefiting from infrastructure improvements, including a 10-seater mechanized toilet facility for the boys’ dormitory.
Employment and Community Support
To combat poverty and reduce youth unemployment, the MP implemented a project to issue free licenses to drivers and Okada riders. As of January 2026, 300 additional licenses were released in a second phase, bringing the total to 687.
Efforts have also been made to extend electricity to communities without access to the national grid and to provide solar-powered mechanized boreholes, such as those in KairaโKpalime.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko Rtd, Moderator of the General Assembly, thanked President John Dramani Mahama through Hon. Dafeamekpor for supporting developmental projects, citing the donation of a Toyota Fortuner to the EPC General Assembly.
Constituents Refute Neglect Claims
During investigations, constituents refuted claims that the MP had neglected some local communities within the South Dayi Constituency. According to them, assertions that Hon. Dafeamekpor has not undertaken meaningful social or infrastructure projects are contradicted by several ongoing and completed projects across the constituency.
Speaking in interviews with Soireenews.com, many constituents described allegations against him as inaccurate and misleading, stressing that his record of development interventions contradicts such claims.
Future Projects
The MP announced the construction of a 1,500-capacity ultra-modern auditorium at Peki College of Education (GOVCO), assuring chiefs and residents that the project would be commissioned before the Easter holidays.
Hon. Dafeamekpor has also assured chiefs and residents that major roads within the communities will be rehabilitated beginning in April, as part of efforts to fulfill campaign promises.
He concluded by praying for divine protection for the people of Peki, asking God to spare them and their families from premature death, calamities, and accidents.
