As the holy month of Ramadan commences, Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has extended her warmest wishes to the Muslim community in Ghana, embodying the spirit of the season with a tangible gesture of support to a historic mosque in the Central Region.
On Saturday, February 21, 2026, the Vice President made a donation to the Cape Coast Central Mosque to aid the Muslim faithful as they begin a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection. The items, which included bags of rice, bottled water, cartons of milk, and boxes of detergents, were formally presented on her behalf by the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku.
In a message shared via her social media platforms, Prof. Opoku-Agyemeng extended her greetings to the ummah (Muslim community) nationwide.
“Ramadan Mubarak to all our Muslim brothers and sisters across Ghana,” she wrote. “During this month of reflection, sacrifice, and compassion, may Allah grant everyone peace, strength, and renewed faith.”
The Vice President emphasized that the donation was aimed at providing comfort and easing the burden on families as they observe the daily fast. The items are expected to support the mosque’s activities and assist community members, particularly those in need, during the sacred month.
“I am pleased to support this sacred period with a donation of essential items,” the Vice President stated. “May this gesture bring comfort and ease as families continue their fast.”
The visit by Dr. Nyarku and his team to the mosque was met with appreciation from the Muslim community in Cape Coast, who prayed for the Vice President and the government. The donation underscores the government’s commitment to fostering unity and supporting all religious groups during their significant celebrations.
