ECG announces week-long power outages across several regions for maintenance

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has informed the public of a series of planned and emergency maintenance works scheduled across multiple regions from Sunday, February 22, to Thursday, February 26.

The exercises, aimed at improving service delivery and network reliability, will result in temporary power interruptions in various communities within the Greater Accra, Central, and Ashanti Regions. ECG has apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that the outages are necessary for essential upgrades.

GREATER ACCRA REGION

Tema Region
Customers in the Tema Region will face outages primarily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on the following days:

· Sunday, Feb 22: Fennice, Saglemi, Metal, Lakpleku, Housing, RSG, Rainbow Paints, Bundase Military Training Camp, TT Brothers, Macbaron Charllets, Zonda Trucks, and surrounding areas.
· Monday, Feb 23: Leisure Hours, Nungua Zongo, Royal Park, Blue Blue, Kpeshie Divisional Headquarters, Coco Beach, and surrounding areas.
· Tuesday, Feb 24: Kpong, Odumase, Nuaso, Agormeda, Kojonya, Community 19 Annex, Lashibi, Klagon, and surrounding areas.
· Thursday, Feb 26: GCB Training School, Buade, Kokobribri, Royal Ravico, Junction Mall, Watch Tower, Alton Hotel, Regimanuel Estates, Queensland International School, Old Ningo, New Ningo, and surrounding areas.

Accra East Region
The Accra East Region has scheduled a mix of emergency and planned maintenance:

· Sunday, Feb 22 (9:00 am – 3:00 pm): Emergency maintenance at Electro Volta House and surrounding areas.
· Monday, Feb 23 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm): Planned outage for Teiman, Ga East Hospital, Boshe Norman, and surrounding areas.
· Tuesday, Feb 24 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm): Planned outage for Santana Market, Ayikuma, Doryumu, Kodeabe, and surrounding areas.
· Wednesday, Feb 25 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm): Planned outage for La Cemetery, Parts of Burma Camp, Twumasiwaa Hospital, Dzen Ayor, Ability, and surrounding areas.
· Thursday, Feb 26 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm): Planned outage for Lakeside Estate (Communities 6 & 8), New Legon, Block Factory (East Legon), Sasaabi Township, Mensah Bar, and surrounding areas.

Accra West Region
The Accra West Region will experience outages largely between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm:

· Sunday, Feb 22 (9:00 am – 5:00 pm): Emergency maintenance at Latter Day Saint Headquarters, Ghana Immigration Service, Alisa Hotel, Swiss Embassy, WAEC, and surrounding areas.
· Monday, Feb 23: Planned outage for Abedi Pele Park, Dunyo, and surrounding areas.
· Tuesday, Feb 24: Planned outage for Red Top, Old Barrier, New Aplaku, Eden Height, Kings University, Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, and surrounding areas.
· Wednesday, Feb 25: Planned outage for Akweteyman, New Bortianor, Red Top, and surrounding areas.
· Thursday, Feb 26: Planned outage for Katapor, Edusa, Tetegu, White Cross, Doblo, Hebron, Medie, Sarpeiman, Satellite, John Teye, Fountain Gate Chapel, Franko Estate, Ecobloc, and surrounding areas.

CENTRAL REGION

Two separate maintenance exercises are planned in the Central Region, both from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm:

· Monday, Feb 23: The outage will affect Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Kormantse, Abandze, Parts of Anomabo, Ekurabadze, Asafora, and surrounding areas.
· Thursday, Feb 26: A more extensive shutdown will affect Abonko, Anokyí, Henii, Nananom Junction, Roman Hospital, Bafikrom, Greenwood, New Nkusukum, Krampakrom, Inshalahu, as well as the areas listed for Monday’s outage (Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Kormantse, etc.) and their surrounding communities.

ASHANTI REGION

In the Ashanti Region, ECG has scheduled both emergency and planned maintenance:

· Sunday, Feb 22 (11:00 am – 2:00 pm): An emergency exercise will affect Barekese Headworks, Ahenkro, Kodie, Aduamoa, Aduman, Seidi, Nkawie, Afari, Toase, Gyankobaah, Kasaprako, Sepaase, Hiawu Besease, Edwanfo, Abuakwa Maakro, Tetrem, and surrounding areas.
· Tuesday, Feb 24 (9:00 am – 4:00 pm): A planned maintenance exercise will affect Agona Municipal Assembly, Agona Police Station, Agona Zongo, Bipoa Town, Bodomase, Afamaso, and surrounding areas.

ECG has reiterated that the exercises are critical for maintaining the integrity of the power distribution network and ensuring long-term service reliability for its customers.
