Prez Mahama visits wounded survivors of Burkina Faso terror attack

President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday visited two Ghanaians wounded in a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso, who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The President, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, assured the survivors that the government would cover all their medical expenses. He spent time commiserating with them and received firsthand updates on their condition and the care being provided.

The two individuals were part of a group of Ghanaian tomato traders whose truck was ambushed by armed assailants in Burkina Faso. According to reports, the attackers separated the men from the women, lined them up, and executed them before setting the vehicle on fire.

President Mahama proceeded directly to the hospital upon returning to Accra from an official engagement in Takoradi. His visit follows the repatriation of the survivors by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). Official reports confirm that they are receiving both medical treatment and psychological counselling.

Seven other Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have since been laid to rest.
