The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced that its national executive elections will be held between September 18 and 20, 2026, as part of a comprehensive timetable released for the party’s internal electoral processes.
General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong disclosed the timelines during a press conference on Wednesday, outlining the step-by-step procedures leading up to the polls.
According to the schedule, the electoral process will commence with the opening of nominations from August 10 to 14, 2026. Filing of nominations is set to take place from August 15 to 17, followed by the vetting of aspirants between August 20 and 23.
The party will present the vetting report on August 25, with appeals scheduled to be heard from August 28 to 29 before the elections are held in mid-September.
“The national executive elections are as follows: The processes and procedures, opening and closing of nominations shall be from August 10-14, filing of nominations shall be on August 15-17, vetting of aspirants August 20-23, reading of vetting report shall be on August 25, appeals shall be taken from August 28-29. The elections shall be held between September 18-20, 2026,” Mr Kodua Frimpong announced.
The General Secretary also addressed concerns about expiring tenures of some party officials during the electoral period. He confirmed that mandates have been extended for polling station executives, constituency executives, branch executives, electoral area coordinators and regional executives to ensure the process proceeds without disruption.
“This will help not to distort the elections,” he explained, emphasising that the extension is aimed at facilitating a smooth and orderly conduct of the party’s internal elections.
