Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather sued over $330K in unpaid rent for NYC Penthouse

Floyd Mayweather is facing a lawsuit from the owners of a luxury Manhattan condominium who claim the retired boxing champion owes more than $330,000 in unpaid rent and associated damages.

According to a complaint filed in New York State court this month, a company tied to property owners Leila and David Centner alleges Mayweather breached his rental agreement for a duplex at the Baccarat Hotel and Residences in Midtown. The suit states Mayweather rented the property in 2024 but stopped paying his $100,000 monthly rent midway through 2025.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence spans the 18th and 19th floors of the tower and includes a 4,000-square-foot wraparound balcony. The lawsuit claims Mayweather accrued over $515,000 in back rent and damages before agreeing to a settlement to clear the debt by early December. The filing alleges he failed to make the full payment, leaving a balance of $337,736, plus interest and fees.

“Mayweather only paid one of the five months of rent,” said Rena Kliot of Pulse International Realty, who is handling the unit’s forthcoming listing. The boxer vacated the property in December.

The Centners plan to re-list the condo this spring, with an expected sale price between $22 and $24 million or a rental asking price of approximately $150,000 per month.

This lawsuit adds to recent scrutiny of Mayweather’s finances. A previous Business Insider report highlighted foreclosures and other legal disputes involving multimillion-dollar payments on luxury assets.

Mayweather, who has publicly parlayed his boxing earnings into real estate investment—including launching a firm in 2024 and acquiring a $402 million minority stake in a New York property portfolio last year—could not be reached for comment.

Marc Scolnick of Scolnick Law, representing the plaintiffs, declined to comment beyond the court filing.
