ECG announces nationwide power outages for maintenance next week

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance works that will result in temporary power outages across multiple regions from Sunday, February 8, to Friday, February 13, 2026.

The exercise, aimed at improving service delivery, will affect communities within the Accra East, Accra West, Central, and Tema operational regions.

Tema Region to Experience Major Outage
The most extensive single interruption is scheduled for the Tema Region on Thursday, February 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Affected areas will include Yilo & Lower Manya Krobo, Adukrom, Akuse, Asutsuare, Juapong, Atimpoku, and surrounding communities.

Staggered Outages for Accra
In the Accra East Region, outages will be staggered over several days:

· Sunday, February 8: Parts of GIMPA, Kisseman, Achimota, North Dzorwulu, and Abelemkpe.
· Tuesday, February 10: Areas including Borteyman, Bawaleshie, and East Legon Acheampong Junction.
· Wednesday, February 11: Lakeside Estate, New Legon Hills, Oyarifa town, and environs.
· Thursday, February 12: Tutu, Obosomase, and Mampong Cabbage Junction.

The Accra West Region will also see significant disruptions, with a major outage on Wednesday, February 11, affecting Fadama, Kwashieman, Darkuman, Abeka, Lapaz, Dansoman Junction, McCarthy, and several other communities. An emergency maintenance is also scheduled for Sunday, February 8, impacting Nsawam Township, Pobiman, Sarpeiman, Kotoku, and Adeiso.

Central Region Scheduled for Monday
Customers in the Central Region should prepare for an outage on Monday, February 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Affected areas include Opiekuma Junction, American Town, Bawjiase Township, and their environs.

In all its notices, the ECG assured customers that the works are necessary for network improvement and enhanced service reliability. The company concluded each announcement by stating, “ECG will undertake planned maintenance works for improved service delivery. This will result in a temporary outage,” and regretting the inconvenience caused.

Residents and businesses in the listed areas are advised to plan accordingly for the scheduled interruptions.
