Prominent broadcast journalist Israel Laryea has issued a robust public defense of his wife, Louisa Laryea, following a wave of online criticism and trolling directed at her. The controversy stems from a recent social media exchange where Louisa was accused of body-shaming media personality Lily Mohammed.
In a detailed Facebook post on Monday, February 2, Laryea directly confronted the negativity, specifically dismissing claims that his wife is unattractive.
“There are also those who say Louisa is ugly. Really?” Laryea wrote. “This woman right here at 52, after giving birth to three children, is ugly? Create a human let’s see how you fare.”
He expressed profound disappointment in individuals, including those he considered friends, who participated in or amplified the trolling. Laryea emphasized that true friends would seek clarity privately rather than joining public condemnation.
“I’ve never trolled or joined trolling of a friend and would never do that. But hey, we’re all brought up differently, which is why we will always have differences in opinions,” he stated.
Addressing the original incident that sparked the backlash, Laryea clarified his wife’s position regarding Lily Mohammed. He asserted that Louisa never intended to imply that Mohammed had undergone skin bleaching or Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures.
“Louisa further clarifies that she never sought to infer that Lily Mohammed had bleached or done BBL because she does not know her,” he explained, framing the earlier comment as a misunderstanding.
Laryea concluded with a pointed message to those who had offered him unsolicited marital advice during the dispute, suggesting they instead focus on their own relationships.
The post has sparked significant conversation online, highlighting issues of cyberbullying, spousal loyalty, and the nature of public discourse on social media platforms.
