RLFG celebrates IRL full membership with presentation to NSA

The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) today presented its International Rugby League (IRL) Full Membership Certificate to the National Sports Authority (NSA) in a ceremony that highlighted a major step forward for the sport in Ghana.
The RLFG delegation, led by President Madam Juliana Storey, included Board Member Mr. Hubert Leo Mensah, General Manager Mr. Jafaru Awudu Mustapha, Head of Communications Ms. Hilaria Wuaku, and Greater Accra Regional Chairman Mr. Emmanuel Okyne-Tetteh.
They were received at the Accra Sports Stadium by NSA Director General Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and Head of Communications Mr. Charles Amofah.
Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has played an instrumental role in elevating rugby in Ghana, consistently supporting both rugby league and union through motivational visits to national teams, praise for federation achievements, and advocacy for the sport’s growth at all levels.
The meeting briefed the NSA on the rigorous process behind achieving IRL Full Membership, the global benefits it brings, and the essential partnership needed with the NSA to fully leverage these opportunities for Ghanaian rugby league.
RLFG General Manager Mr. Jafaru Awudu Mustapha gave a detailed presentation on the federation’s strategic roadmap, emphasising strong governance, player development pathways, grassroots initiatives, and a bold long-term vision for nationwide expansion.
In response, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and the NSA commended the RLFG for its outstanding organisation and leadership, describing the federation as a model that other sports bodies in Ghana should emulate.
The attainment of full IRL membership, supported by proactive leadership at the NSA, positions Ghana to access increased international competitions, funding, and technical expertise, accelerating rugby league’s development across the country.
