Ghana’s inflation falls to 5.4% in December 2025, extending year-long decline

Ghana’s inflation rate eased to 5.4% in December 2025, marking a 12th straight month of decline from the 6.3% recorded in November.

Figures released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) show that month-on-month inflation stood at 0.9% in December, pointing to relatively modest price increases toward the close of the year.

The continued disinflation was largely driven by a slowdown in food price increases.

Food inflation declined sharply to 4.9% in December 2025 from 6.6% in November, reflecting softer price movements for key food items.

This moderation in food prices played a major role in pulling down the overall inflation rate, providing some relief to households after sustained periods of high cost pressures.

The sustained fall in inflation signals improving price stability as Ghana enters 2026, following a year of consistent reductions in consumer price growth.
